Healing Scars with Cold Lasers

What does cold laser / soft light therapy actually do?

This is a high intensity light or energy that operates at a specific frequency to increase the blood supply to the area. This is used by the injured cells to facilitate repair of the injured tissue. It does not have any adverse affects on healthy tissue with the exception of the eye. DO NOT EXPOSE LASER POINTERS, OR SIMILAR DEVICES TO THE EYE!!! Application of 4 -5 minutes to the area may require anywhere from 4 to 7 treatments. Cold lasers have been used in Europe for over 20 years, but just in the last few years they have been approved for use in the United States for many different treatments. If you have a scar(s) that needs additional laser work, or a large number of scars you will be instructed to set up an appointment for an actual laser appointment. The appointment will take approximately 10 minutes. The laser that is used for this is much greater in power, and covers a much larger area.

Do the scars ever pose a problem in the future?

Yes, it is possible that they can become “active” again after months or years, and may need some additional attention. This is another reason why periodically getting your nutrition check makes perfect sense… so we can catch those potential issues before they affect your health.
