Food and You

Common side affects of cow dairy are:

  • Swelling-histamine reaction (total body swelling)
  • Bloating
  • Abdominal pain
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Temper tantrums in children
  • Acne
  • Yeast control problems
  • Phlegm
  • Severe food allergies that can lock up muscles so that they tear and rip with exercise causing severe muscle and tendon damage
  • Immunity challenges – inner ear swelling, dizziness, ringing in the ears, heart palpitation, eye twitching, sweat profusely, and rotten breath

Great alternatives for cow dairy are Goat or Sheep dairy, Almond milk, Almond cheese or Rice milk. Goat and Sheep dairy are supurb because
their hormones are much lesser than those found in cows.  So the thyroid is not going to be over worked. There is also Goat ice cream that tastes really good and most people don’t know the difference when they have it. For those of you who think Goat or Sheep dairy is not to your taste or you just don’t eat things with a face, that’s fine. Almond milk or cheese is a great substitute because it is a protein and it has a lot of calcium in it.
Rice ice cream is really good and is called Dream. But nothing in the world is going to taste like cow milk so when you are testing out the different milks keep an open mind to experience the different tastes.

Corn

Have you ever wondered why when you eat corn it comes out whole when it comes out the other end? The answer is that when corn hits
the stomach, the stomach flips out because corn has too much sugar for the body. When people in our office have lower back pain we suggest
that they eliminate sugar and corn just to see if it will help. Usually without question their lower back pain decreases tremendously. But
beware because the synthetic (biologically engineered) form of corn is much worse than whole corn.

Corn and biologically engineered forms of corn:

  • High fructose corn syrup
  • Corn starch
  • Maltodextrin

Soy

Soy is another problematic food for patients we see in our office. The major problem with soy is that it has too many estrogens which will affect peoples’ hormones. Women don’t need to add any more estrogens because a woman’s body makes them. Men really don’t need them either.  In fact, it sometimes can cause men to grow breasts. Also soy is biologically engineered and that’s why there are some many estrogens in it.

Soy includes:

  • Edamame- Soy beans
  • Soy bean lectin
  • Soy bean oil
  • Tofu
  • Miso
  • Soy Cheese

Fat

How to Balance fats:
There are hot fats, which are bad fats and there are cold fats, which are good fats. When you eat good cold fats it’s like putting good oil in your car; it lubes everything up and helps the machine run properly. Hot Fats are usually cooked meats, roasted nuts & seeds, butter, cooking with oil, chips, or melted cheese. Cold fats are avocado, raw nuts & seeds raw nuts & seed butter, uncooked oil, cheese, sushi (usually). When you eat one of the hot fats you must balance it with a cold fat so make the gallbladder happy.

For example, if you are at a party and they have chips, then use guacamole to balance the fat. If you don’t like guacamole then a handful of raw nuts will do the treat.

The raw or uncooked fats really help the skin and nerves to be happy. The Omega-3-6-9 essential fats are very important to the body’s well being because they coat the nerves to allow your body to calm down.

Omega 3 are cold-water fish-epically tuna, avocado, Flax seeds, Hemp oil and some nuts.
Omega 6 are beef, chicken, vegetable oils, and nuts.
Omega 9 is straight olive oil.

What the Thyroid is in control of:

When you eat every 2 hours the thyroid will function at top speed and in turn encourage everything to work the same. When the thyroid is happy everything is usually happy.
